Biosphere Distress

A jewel in space appeared and so we rose from its mud

Taking the iron from the stone of Earth for our blood

Rising from tissue floating in a primaeval pond

To bear witness to the universe spread beyond

Faced now with the unthinkable we strain to respond

Don’t worry about the planet it will be fine

Once it sheds irritant parasites from its hide

That was given Paradise but hath forsook it

Traded it for baubles of its humble design

Biosphere Distress . . .  That was given a pure well but doth poison it

Biosphere Distress

Hear the liars and deniers year after year

It’s definitely the thing that folk want to hear

So really wish to believe that it is all natural

And that it’s really nowt to do with us after all

Biosphere Distress

Is it really true, are we really going down?

Biosphere Distress,

Planet Earth is fine, don’t worry about its fitness,

it’ll carry on its lonely orbit without witness

This film-like layer on the outside is the issue,

where we’ve come to be formed out of sunkissed tissue

Biosphere Distress

It isn’t going away, it’s getting louder each day

Biosphere Distress

Will we ever learn or keep fiddling while Rome burns?

Biosphere Distress

Are we going to pass the test?  Will we survive?
