Zombie Times

It’s obvious to all now that this spell just doesn’t work/But the monster’s been created and is still going berserk/Destroying all the furniture, tearing down the nets/A zombie programme took over as we slept/And though it dimly knows what it’s doing it is so wrong/There’s far too many reasons just to carry on

We’re in zombie times

Thumbing through the books of spells, alas trapped in a trance/Can’t see the simple steps to break out of this desperate dance/But always there will be a cheery message for us all/They scream burning injustice while they shovel on more fuel

We’re in Zombie Times

Lurching into darkness and no one’s got a torch/Just keep striking matches until there’s none left in the box/Don’t know where it’s going, kicks a can with every step/Mumbo jumbo fills its head/Relentless to the cliff edge/Should be dead, but on it treads,

We’re in zombie times

We need to find that man who would rewire the whole place/And bring peace and rest to all the zombie race/For certain he can be revived then everyone will see . . .

There are ideas in the world which are dead, but which don’t go away.  Economics, the basis of everything, is a particular example, where theories that have been seen not to work, are not really believed in by the people deploying them, are implemented over and again.  There’s a powerful inertia.  There are zombie ideas, they should be dead but on they tread, and take us all nearer doom.
